Colored outlines in motion

Here is the first take with colored outlines.

We are getting close to the home stretch of this particular piece. I Have to do the special effects work on the death animation, convert the attack animation to colored outlines, convert the walking animation to colored outlines and add the sword to the walking animation and this will be finished! I estimate I will have it done in about 4 or 5 more updates.

Oh I also lost my save file twice today. :P

The Magic of Colored Outlines

I have done about 8 frames of coloring the outlines. I do not have a whole animation chunk to show today. Hopefully tomorrow I will have time, but it looks like I may be running another booth, which are my on the job marketing training! I decided against green and yellow and am now incorporating purple with another color that I am still undecided about. (I am thinking some sort of yellow-orange.)

Monochrome Skeleton Finished!

It is always so exciting when I finish a phase of the design. Even though these changes are so small they feel fantastic and gratifying. Doing work that you are not paid to do will make you happy in a way I cannot quite describe.

Monochrome Shading

Here is the first in progress shot of color shading. I sped up the animation a little bit to keep it more in line with the other animations which still have a higher fps than this one. I have been messing with staggering the rate of frame change, but it always feels awkward and stutters unless I keep the fps consistent.

Here is the old one before I added color for reference.

I plan on adding tones of green and yellow to him once I finish the other animations.

Skeleton Death Animation Rough Draft

I think I am finished animating the skeleton parts!

The next step will be to recolor and shade these animations. I expect this process to take about a week, but the quality jump should be noticeable if you compare to their previous versions.

Skeleton swingin' returns

I have now animated the skull and left arm.

I was at four festivals last week and they killed my motivation a little bit to keep posting each day. I think I had a minor infection in my leg from an unidentified bug that I used as an excuse to not spend my free time on this animation. My leg is all better now and I am jumping back on the horse and getting back to work now though!

First Draft of sword animation

First work in progress shot of the skeleton swinging the sword. Only the sword and sword arm are fully animated with some work starting to get done on the head. This may be the last progress on the skeleton until Friday. I have two Twilight Concerts to run on Wednesday and Thursday!

Deal with it

Inspired by board game night at Ben's house. I may print these on shirts and make them available for purchase. I am taking suggestions on what design looks the best.

Sword Beginnings

I have finished up the walking animation! I still plan on adding a few more colors to the palette and giving him more character, but for now I am moving on to a sword swinging animation. I have I rough shot of what I am going for... still a lot of work to go!

Skeleton Animation WIP V2

Made some progress on adding some character and weight to the animation today. Still needs lots of tweaking in that regard. Then I will move on to coloring.
